Caring for your painting

1

Hanging

Choose a wall away from direct sunlight and heat sources such as radiators or fireplaces. North or east-facing walls offer the most stable conditions for oil on linen.

2

Cleaning

Dust occasionally with a clean, dry, soft-bristled brush. Never use water, solvents, or cleaning products on the paint surface. Do not wipe with cloth or tissue.

3

Humidity and temperature

Avoid bathrooms, kitchens, or spaces with significant temperature fluctuations. A consistent indoor environment is ideal.

4

Handling

Hold the frame or stretcher bar when moving the work — never touch the painted surface directly.

5

Long-term

Oil paint continues to cure for years after application. No varnishing or additional treatment is required.
